Peppermint foot scrub is great for many reasons: it's cooling and refreshing, and the peppermint aroma is a natural pick-me-up. It's a simple way to pamper your feet and can be a fun, personal project or a thoughtful homemade gift.
Why we love making handmade gifts
Handmade gifts like this peppermint sugar scrub show a personal touch. They reflect care and creativity, making them special and unique.
Making homemade soaps, scrubs, beeswax coconut oil lip balms, and other health and beauty products lets you customize each item and use natural ingredients, organic ingredients or preferred ingredients like essential oils.
This peppermint food scrub recipe is so simple. Here's what you'll need.
- 2 cups granulated sugar: A gentle exfoliant on the skin.
- ¼ cup melted coconut oil: Used as a carrier oil, this helps in binding the scrub and moisturizing the skin.
- 25 drops of peppermint essential oil: Adds the refreshing peppermint scent and cooling effect.
- Food coloring/mica powder (optional): I prefer to avoid this, but did add coloring for a hint of brightness in the pics for this post.
- A short, wide-mouth mason jar: Ideal for storing and easy access to your scrub.
How to make it
1. Mix the sugar, melted coconut oil, and peppermint essential oil in a large bowl.
2. If you add color, mix in a few drops of food coloring or a bit of mica powder.
3. Once everything is well mixed, transfer the scrub into a clean, dry mason jar.
4. If gifting, add a ribbon and a small scoop tied to the jar for a personal touch.
How to use it
Using your fingers, apply a small amount of peppermint foot scrub to bare feet. For best results, apply to wet feet. Massage the scrub into the tops, sides, and soles of your feet using circular movements.
Pay special attention to areas of tough skin and dry patches as well. Then rinse off with warm water.
Add it to a gift basket
Creating a personalized gift pack with your homemade peppermint foot scrub, harvest spiced lip balm, DIY shampoo bars, and handmade goat milk soaps can be a heartwarming and thoughtful gesture.
This handmade, natural beauty care gift pack not only showcases your handy holiday crafting skills but also shares a personal touch of care and wellness with your loved ones.
Creating your peppermint foot scrub is a straightforward process. And it's a practical way to take good care of your feet. The sugar helps to smooth rough patches and rough skin.
It's fun to introduce natural, homemade products into your daily self-care routine, and this peppermint foot scrub also serves as a thoughtful, handmade gift. Materials
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ¼ cup melted coconut oil
- 25 drops peppermint essential oil
- Food coloring/mica powder-optional
- short wide mason jar (I used a 4 ounce Ball jar)
Tools
- measuring spoon
- measuring cup
Instructions
- Combine sugar, melted oil, and essential oils in a large bowl and mix until everything is well combined.
- If you want to add a little bit of color to it you can use a couple of drops of food coloring or mica powder (that's what I used) to make it feel a little more special. Mix in at the same time as the rest of the ingredients.
- Once mixed up, nicely scoop into a clean, dry wide mouth jar. A shorter one is better than a tall jar like a 2 quart because it is easier to get to all the scrub.
Notes
For gifting add a ribbon and a cute little scoop tied to the jar.
